Shadowland live DVD details

2009-05-21

As previously announced Metal Mind Productions will release a first live DVD of Shadowland - “Edge of Night”.

This British neo-progressive rock band was originally formed in the 1990s, by Clive Nolan and Karl Groom. The band’s music tends towards the ‘songy’ side of progressive rock, while retaining its melodic and emotional intensity. They have developed a style that is both complex and easy listening. The band recorded three albums so far: “Ring of Roses” (1992), “Through the Looking Glass” (1994) and “Mad as a Hatter” (1996). Sadly, due to the onset of other commitments, Shadowland took a lengthy break from recording and performing between 1996 and 2008. Late in 2008 Nolan announced that Shadowland would be reforming for a tour in early 2009. In mid February they played at the famous Wyspiański Theatre during the first edition of the progressive rock festival ProgRock 2009. The band’s performance was recorded and will be released on the DVD.

“Edge of Night” DVD features an exquisite feast of superb musicianship brought to you by Clive Nolan (Pendragon, Caamora, Arena, Neo), Mike Varty (Landmarq, Credo, Jannison Edge, and Mick Pointer’s project Script for a Jester’s Tour), Karl Groom (a well-known music producer on the prog rock scene and a member of Threshold and Strangers on a Train), Mark Westwood (Caamora, Neo), and Nick Harradence (NW10). Almost 2 hours of footage, presenting songs from Shadowland’s classic albums “Ring of Roses”, “Through the Looking Glass”, and “Mad as a Hatter”, performed by the elite of the scene!

Tracklist:

1. A Matter of Perspective
2. The Hunger
3. The Whistleblower
4. Mephisto Bridge
5. The Kruhulick Syndrome
6. The Waking Hour
7. Painting by Numbers
8. Hall of Mirrors
9. The Edge of Night
10. U.S.I.
11. The Seventh Year
12. Jigsaw
13. Dreams of the Ferryman
14. Ring of Roses

DVD also features an interview with Clive Nolan and Karl Groom, documentary “Shadowland Live in Holland 2009”, photo gallery, desktop images, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and more! DVD will be available in 3 different formats: DVD, limited DVD+2CD edition, including 2 bonus audio CDs with songs recorded during the gig at the theatre, and 2CD digipak (limited to 1000 copies). The release date is scheduled for 6th July in Europe and 11th August in USA (via MVD).

Unicorn Digital introduces debut by Vecteur K

2009-05-20

After the great reviews received for JellyFiche, Direction and Claire Vezina, UNICORN DIGITAL is proud to welcome another great Quebec progressive rock artist into the family — Vecteur K — and present its debut CD, La Peur du Désert.

La peur du désert (Fear of the desert) offers a reflexion on the feeling of emptyness expressed by mankind and the perpetual fight for filling it. A rich and pure sound, french lyrics, and a desire to keep arrangements simple in spite of the complexity of some structures gave a very special and unique touch to the album, which may please both progressive and general rock fans. In that way, Vecteur K offers something unique.

Formed of lead singer and guitarist Marc-André Noël, lead guitarist Marc-Antoine Sauvé, keyboard player Jean-François Bernard, bassman Benoît Dalpé and drummer Éric Cournoyer, Vecteur K takes place on the musical scene since 2003. Marc-André, Éric and Benoît are in the adventure since the beginning, while Marc-Antoine joined in 2007, followed by Jean-François in 2008. With explosive compositions and imaging lyrics, they established their own style, without any barrier or limits, between rock and progressive types of music.

Flood debut album to air on radio

Unicorn Digital and La Villa Strangiato are proud to present the world premiere of FLOOD’s debut album Tales from the Four Seasons.

Tales From The Four Seasons is the chill out album of the year. It comes right from the heart of the English countryside. The album follows a year in the life of the woodland. Four tracks take you through each season from the early morning mists of Spring, the strawberries and ice cream of Summer through to the cider apples and golden leaves of Autumn and finally the snow covered landscape of Winter. The stories are told through acoustic guitar against a backdrop of chamber orchestra and piano

FLOOD’s debut album ‘Tales From The Four Seasons’ is an instrumental album. It began life as a short piece entitled Summer written whilst on holiday in Dorset five years ago and became a four suites concept album

Although typically drawn to more heavy arrangements in terms of the use of synthesisers, bass pedals and electric guitars, Flood felt it was important to keep the orchestration and choice of instruments the same as had been used on Summer. The original orchestration has been augmented by the use of piano, upright bass clarinet and drums. Each season is made up of individual movements linked together using short linking passages. The music was inspired by the sights and sounds of the English countryside.

FLOOD’s Tales from the Four Seasons world premiere this Thursday night, May 21st 8pm on La Villa Strangiato CHUO 89.1 FM www.chuo.fm
