Erik Norlander joins Asia

2007-11-20

John, Jay and Guthrie are pleased to officially announce that the band lineup has finally been completed with the addition of keyboard wizard par excellence Erik Norlander. Erik’s evocative synthesizer technique and style is reminiscent of the legendary Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson and Jon Lord while still creating a very unique musical voice of his own.

Vocalist John Payne adds, “We know that the keyboard position is extremely critical to this band and therefore much time was invested to find the right person and all roads lead us to Erik.”

The band has commenced recording the much-anticipated album Architect of Time to be released in 2008. Red Entertainment is currently booking worldwide tour dates.

  1. This should read as being “Asia featuring John Payne.” Payne, who owned the Asia name before the original Asia reunion (Geoff Downes sold his right to the name to Payne for business reasons while they were in Asia together), was given the legal right to this specific name for the release of any live recordings while he was in the band for 15 years and for any future studio recordings. Confused yet with two Asia’s?

  2. I had the pleasure to work backstage at Baja Prog O8′ where Erik played with Rocket Scientists. He is awesome. Good Luck Erik!
